E. DeAnn Eaton
Chief Executive Officer
E. DeAnn Eaton, CPA, MBA is the CEO for La Vida Llena Retirement Community. She began as Controller in 1994, and was promoted to CFO in 1999. She became CEO in May of 2011. Prior to joining La Vida Llena, DeAnn was the controller for a firm with approximately 500 million in bond proceeds outstanding. She was an adjunct accounting professor for 16 years at the College of Santa Fe. In addition, she holds a Qualifying Real Estate Broker's license in New Mexico.
Chief Financial Officer
Andre K. Hawkins, CPA, has relocated to Albuquerque as the new Chief Financial Officer at La Vida Llena retirement community after a nationwide search. Hawkins previously worked as Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at Air Force Villages, Inc., a continuing care retirement community in San Antonio.
"What I have discovered about La Vida Llena is that the residents and staff are world class and have welcomed me with open arms. I look forward to being a part of the La Vida Llena family," he said.
Andre Hawkins began with Air Force Villages as the Controller and Certified Public Accountant in 2006, worked as an Audit Supervisor at Fisher, Herbst & Kamble, PC, and held Accounting Management positions with Alcoa Fujikura Ltd. and Texaco Inc.
Mr. Hawkins holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Western Michigan University. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and New York.
Corporate Director of Development and Plant Operations
Daniel N. Chavez is the Corporate Director of Development and Plant Operations for La Vida Llena Retirement Community. He joined the La Vida Llena management team in 2004. He has over thirty years experience in Plant Operations, Engineering, Safety Management, and Code Compliance and Construction for large healthcare systems. He has authored and implemented Safety Management Plans, Water Conservation plans, Energy Management plans, Quality Management Plans, Contingency plans, and Master Grounds Plans for both private companies and a variety of inspection and survey processes for local, federal, and insurance inspection agencies (JCAHO, CARF). He has served as a Quality Assurance Surveyor for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA); while employed with HCA he was awarded the Dr. Frist "Humanitarian of The Year" Award. Dan currently maintains a variety of Construction licenses in the State of New Mexico to include: GB-98 (General Contractor), EE98 (Electrical Contractor), JE-98 (Master Electrician), certified boiler operator, pipe fitter, and locksmith.
Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing
Dave Walbright has relocated to Albuquerque as the new Director of Sales and Marketing at La Vida Llena, a continuing care retirement community. Walbright previously worked at Life Care Service Corporation of Des Moines, Iowa as the Marketing and Sales Specialist.
Dave has a career of over thirty years in marketing and sales within senior living communities. He worked at National Church Residences, the nation's largest non-profit provider of low income senior housing and was Vice President of Marketing and Sales at First Community Village, both located in Ohio. His experience includes pre-sale of communities under-development in Ohio and Maryland, re-development of older communities in Washington, D.C. and Ohio and marketing analysis of communities in North and South Carolina. Walbright also worked with consulting companies, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa and Irving, Texas, who manage communities in over thirty states.
Mr. Walbright moved to Albuquerque in January to join La Vida Llena after a nationwide search. He holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. He is an active Rotarian for the Rotary Club of Albuquerque as well as an active member of both the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
Corporate Director of Human Resources
Lynne Carlberg joined La Vida Llena as Corporate Director of Human Resources in 2014. Ms. Carlberg brings over 20 years of recruiting and human resource expertise from government and commercial contracting environments. Her focus has been in the fields of environmental safety and remediation, civil engineering, and information technologies. Prior to joining La Vida Llena, Ms. Carlberg served as Senior Human Resources Generalist at Los Alamos Technical Associates corporate office in Albuquerque, NM. She earned her Bachelor's degree in German Studies from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM, and holds a Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR).
Chrissy Salazar Akes
Corporate Director of Business Development
Chrissy Akes, NHA, Corporate Director of Business Development, began her career with La Vida Llena as Director of Administrative Services and was promoted to her current position with Haverland Carter LifeStyle Group in 2017. Ms. Akes received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, where she also earned her Masters of Organizational Management degree. Ms. Akes also received her New Mexico Nursing Home Administrator's License in December 2015.
Linda Givens, NHA, was hired as the Executive Director of La Vida Llena in January of 2008. Prior to joining the La Vida Llena team, Linda worked extensively in the healthcare field, both for acute and long term care, totaling over 30 years of experience. Linda attended the University of New Mexico where she received a bachelor's degree in university studies. She is currently licensed as a Health Care Administrator. Linda serves on the CNM board for Certified Dietary Managers.
Director, Plant Operations
Joe Gomez is the Director, Plant Operations. His department is responsible for Environmental Services, Maintenance, and Safety; he serves as the Risk Management Officer as well. Joe has been with La Vida Llena since 2002 and has over 16 years of experience Plumbing, Water Treatment, and HVAC. His certifications include Boiler Operator 1 & 2, Water Specialist 1, and Life Safety. He is currently a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA.)
Carolyn Rupert, Director of Nursing, has been with La Vida Llena since 2006. Carolyn manages our Health Care Department which is responsible for providing Skilled Nursing Care to our residents. Carolyn is a Registered Nurse (RN) and has over 17 years experience in her profession. Prior to joining La Vida Llena, Carolyn worked as a MDS Coordinator. Carolyn obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of New Mexico in 1993.
Director, Resident Health Services
Carol Johnson, R.N. joined La Vida Llena in 2014 as the Director of Resident Health Services. Carol is a passionate nurse leader with 43 years of experience all over the country.
Carol was born in Santa Fe, NM. She later went into the Air Force and is a proud veteran. Carol earned her nursing degrees from Louisiana State University, University of Washington, and Indian River College. She began working at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM in 1986 as the Clinical Coordinator Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic Services. In 1989, Carol moved to Fresno, CA where she held managerial and supervisory positions in surgical centers. She then took those skills with her to the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. In 2010, Carol found herself back in Albuquerque where she worked at UNMH and New Mexico Orthopedics Surgery Center.
Carol is a nurse to the core and is very happy to be a part of the La Vida Llena family.
