Full Life Foundation

The Very Reverend John Haverland (deceased) is the founder of the Full Life Foundation. Very Reverend Haverland in cooperation with the La Vida Llena Board of Directors came up with the idea for residents to help each other in the event of financial problems. The spirit of cooperation and giving to alleviate pain and suffering advocated by Very Reverend Haverland became a part of the culture of La Vida Llena. In that same spirit the Full Life Foundation Board adopted the motto: HELPING YOUR NEIGHBORS.

From 1980 until 1995 the organization operated under the name of the Residents Assistance Fund with La Vida Llena Board members and an equal number of residents. In 1995 the Foundation was incorporated as a charitable organization with tax deductible benefits to the donor. At the same time the Full Life Foundation separated from La Vida Llena and became a stand alone organization of resident Board members.

The residents of La Vida Llena have always responded to the appeals for support of a worthy cause. In the early years the contributions were relatively small, but since l995 the resident generosity blossomed into a balance of over one million dollars. The contributions are deposited in rainy day bank and interest bearing fund accounts to benefit the community's quality of life and residents that fall on hard times.

An eleven resident member Board of directors manage and disburse the voluntary contributions in accordance with the rules and by-laws of the Foundation. The Directors host an annual celebration to report the progress and financial condition of the Foundation. Contributors are recognized for their generosity. Board members and other volunteers are thanked for their support of Very Reverend Haverland's original idea of a culture of giving.
