A Memo from Linda Givens, Executive director: COVID-19 protocol update

Closing our buildings

In order to increase our ability to comply with the stay-at-home order by the Governor, we will be closing all of our buildings over the next few days. Closing the building means to keep people out – but also to keep residents in their apartment. In order to facilitate keeping residents in their apartment, we must first eliminate the reasons a resident would need to leave their apartment. Here is the plan:

MAIL DELIVERY:

  • On Friday, April 10th, there will be a tote bag hung on the outside of your apartment doorknob.
  • Beginning Monday, April 13, your mail will be delivered into your personal tote hanging on your door.
  • Put your outgoing mail into the tote and it will be picked up during the delivery.
  • There will be no weekend delivery of mail.

TRASH:

Continue to take your trash to the nearest trash room. This procedure does not cause groups of residents to congregate together and thereby poses no risk as long as proper handwashing is done. Remember to wash your hands. Should you need assistance – please call Frank Gonzales at ext. 3569.

There has been previous communication regarding the delivery of meals, groceries and prescriptions.

We are still receiving results from the testing of over 425 residents and staff. We will provide updated information in a communication tomorrow.

Again, the most important issue is to comply with the order issued by the Governor. As stated in a news release by the Department of Health:

“…all New Mexicans have been instructed to stay home except for outings absolutely necessary for health, safety and welfare.”
